  1. Hey there,
We too had a three legged puppy. Ours was the runt of a litter of chihuahua’s. We went to buy one when it was dark outside in their pen. The sellers told her how special she was and sold her to us as the “runt” of the litter. When we got home she was crippled.
Her personality of “sweetness” encouraged us that she was a KEEPER!
Best Wishes to you and your “baby”!

  2. Cheers to Baby! I have a 3 legged weimaraner (my second as my first 3 legged weim crossed the Rainbow Bridge). She was born in a puppy mill with only 3 legs. The puppy mill owners bred her 4 or 5 times and she was just 3 at that time. Her last litter was of 16 puppies, and lost 3 of them. The puppy mill was closed and all of the dogs confiscated. Cassie was heartoworm positive at that time. She was taken by Chris Conklin who is in charge of Michigan Weimaraner Rescue. She fostered Cassie and had her treated for heartworms. Cassie came to live with me last March, still intact, as she couldn’t go through the surgery during the heartworm treatment. When I had her spayed the vet told me her last litter was a c-section that they botched, leaving a section of her intestines able to protrude through the muscle wall. If we would have waited much longer to spay her she would have died. I was able to locate 5 of Cassie’s puppies, all healthy and placed in wonderful homes. I hope the people who own pupppy mills rot in hell for what they do to those poor dogs. I am forever in debt to Denise King of Louisville Weimaraner Rescue, who helped me find Minnie and have her transported from her foster home in Chicago, and Chris for helping me find both of these beautiful girls.

  3. Stephanie, you are a true saint for rescuing your girl and giving her a better life. Thank you for sharing her story. We agree; puppy mills are EVIL and people need to know about the horrible conditions that dogs are born into in these places. It’s truly a testament to the forgiving nature of dogs that they even allow humans to go near them after an experience like that.

Thank you for spreading the word, and of course, feel free to write more and share photos of your amazing fur kid in our Forums. Talk to you soon!
