Tripawds Coast to Coast

Back when I still lived in California, I heard from a Big Dawg named Finnegan, who lives in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Three Legged Bone Cancer Dog SurvivorsFinny is quite a big guy. He’s an Irish Wolfhound that’s towers way, way over me. Just when I thought I was a big boy, he made me look at small as a weiner dog. But the reason he’s so cool, is he is a tripawd like me. And he is absolute proof of the miracles that can happen even if a dog gets cancer — he is now fifteen months post-surgery! Yeay!

Bone Cancer, Battle Scars and Bear the Big Brave Tripawd

Last November when I had my surgery, my Mom was a little upset that my Dad posted my surgery photos on Tripawds. He wanted everyone to see my battle scar because he thought it was cool. My Mom wasn’t amused.

Not too long ago, I got an email from Bear, a big ol’ dawg that got the bad osteosarcoma news that he’d be a tripod dog soon. His people were worried, but his Dad said

“Both my wife and I were very happy that we had seen Jerry’s pics before Bear had his surgery. It would have been much more traumatic to have seen it for the first time when we went to pick him up.”

Punxsy Jerry

Gobbler's Knob, Punxsutawney PennsylvaniaWhat a relaxing time I’m having while hangin’ with my Auntie Emi in Pennsylvania this week. She lives near Punxsutawney, that town that gets all crazy over this big rodent named Phil every February 2nd. You know, Groundhog Day. Well, I went to Gobbler’s Knob to try to sniff Phil out, but he was busy munching down on some crab apples or something because he was nowhere to be found.

Long Time No Beach

More happy faces yesterday when I finally got to go to the beach again! It’s been months since I used to run and play on the beach and the Samoa Dunes near Eureka, CA. But I haven’t even smelled a beach ever since we started driving. And in all honesty, I didn’t really smell one … Read more

So many miles… So many happy faces…

Recumbent Roadside ReunionWe’ve now got over 6,000 miles behind us on our full-time RVing adventure. But we’re not walking! We’re driving. Well, OK, my people are doing the driving. I just get to sit back and enjoy the ride from my big comfy bed in the back seat of our Dodge Ram truck. But I sure do enjoy meeting all the new people along the way. They always seem so happy to see me too. This is a good thing, considering I’m such a Happy Dog!

Take these nice guys we met at a roadside park along Highway 2 on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for instance. We had passed Don riding his recumbent bicycle in the bike lane a few miles back. While we stopped to stretch our legs and have some lunch, he pulled into the rest stop and circled by the RV a couple times to read the side which includes my website and tagline, It’s better to hop on three legs than to limp on four.

2 Dogs, 2000 Miles

2 Dogs 2000 Miles

I just received a comment on one of my YouTube tripawd videos from The Big Dog who is undertaking an incredible journey with his two beautiful boys Murphy and Hudson. I was so touched, I just have to share it with everyone.

In January 2008, these three will embark on a 2,000 mile, 6 month walk from Austin, Texas to Boston, Massachusetts to raise money for cancer research for companion pets. Read on to view the trailer and tell everyone you know about 2 Dogs 2000 miles.

Meet Lalla from Tel Aviv!

Lalla from TelAviv Israel

I just got a letter from my first overseas International Visitor, Lalla, a canine cancer survivor from Israel.

Lalla had her rear right leg amputated last September, due to osteosarcoma.

Lalla says that she didn’t have chemo, because “It would have really disrupted my normal happy routine: no beach, no pals and no treats!”

And even though the doctors told her she only had about 2 months left on earth. That was a year ago! Just like me, she has beaten the odds, and is now living life to the max!
